A piece isn't finished until it fits.
We sew throw pillow covers — and throw pillow covers — in the same workroom that rebuilds boat seats and takes up hems.
Salt air, humidity, and an afternoon of sun are hard on anything soft.
Vinyl goes brittle at the fold.
Thread chalks and lets go along a seam before the fabric beside it shows a mark.
Foam takes on moisture and stops springing back.
What we sew instead
- Marine-grade vinyls
- Solution-dyed acrylics
- UV-stable outdoor weaves
- Bonded polyester thread
The difference between a cushion that lasts a decade and one that comes back in two summers.

Measure the insert, not the old cover.
Full and firm — corners stay square
Measure the insert, not the old cover — the old one has stretched.
Lay it flat and measure seam to seam across the widest point.
If it falls between two sizes, take the smaller.
Two trades, one workroom
Furniture and clothing rarely share a workroom. Ours does, and the two turn out to ask the same question. A dining chair with a sagging seat and a jacket that pulls at the shoulder are the same problem in different materials: the covering no longer matches the shape underneath it.
We measure what's actually there
…rather than what the pattern says should be there, and build the cover back to that.
Why we ship covers and nothing else
A pillow cover is the one soft furnishing that doesn't have to fit a particular frame. It's also where small faults show most plainly. That suits a workroom that would rather be judged on its seams.
Growing without getting big
A wider run of sizes, more fabrics that stand up to sun and salt, and few enough hands on any one order that we can still answer for it.
What ships and what stays in the shop
Throw pillow covers, and that is the list.
- Square · lumbar · euro · floor
- Indoor & outdoor fabrics
- Flat $4.95 shipping
- 6–10 business days
Stays in the shop
Work that has to be measured in person.
- Reupholstery of furniture
- RV and camper interiors
- Boat and patio seating
- Headboards · dining sets
- Alterations — hems, seams, zippers, taking in and letting out
Bring the piece in, or email photographs with rough dimensions. A firm price needs the piece in front of us — what's under the old fabric decides much of the work.
Notes from the workroom
How to Read a Block Print Up Close
Block printing is a very old way of putting a pattern on cloth. A design is carved into a wooden block, the block is pressed into color, and the color is pressed onto the fabric, one impression at a time. Because a person places every impression, the finished cloth carries small signs of how it came to be. Once you know them, they are easy to spot.
How to Mix Block Print Pillows on One Sofa
One patterned pillow on a plain sofa is easy. Three or four is where people lose their nerve and fall back on a matching set. Mixing prints is less risky than it looks, because it comes down to three decisions: scale, color, and size.
Pillow Cover vs. Insert Size: Getting Full Corners
A throw pillow that looks flat and tired is usually not short of filling. It is wearing a cover that is too big for it. The relationship between the insert and the cover decides whether the corners stand up or droop, and it takes about two minutes to get right.
How to Care for Block-Printed Pillow Covers
A block-printed cover is two things at once: a piece of cotton or linen, and a layer of color sitting on its surface. Most care advice is written for the cloth. With a printed cover, the print is the part that shows age first, so it makes sense to build the routine around it.
Asked often enough
Do the covers come with inserts?
No. Every cover is sold on its own, so you can keep using the fill you already have.
Can I wash them?
Indoor covers: machine wash cold, gentle, hang to dry. Never tumble dry — heat is what shrinks a cover past the point of fitting. Outdoor covers: hose down, wipe, air dry.
Will the color match my screen?
Close, but screens differ and woven fabric photographs differently in daylight and artificial light. Slight variation between production runs is normal and isn’t a fault.
